Disc three in the Newest Tubular Bells RE mix / lease / master set. Are
these really the best sounding versions available of the demos and early
mixes? If so, I for one would not have minded a bit of "tampering" by Mike
or whoever to make them sound a bit better. he could have done a "Bahamas"
mix of the demos. A bull's-eye sort of "look what you could have had" in
stead of the drop out distorted mishmash lofi bag o shite. Now before we all
start reaching for our keyboards in defence of the tubular one, can I direct
you towards the demos for the Beach Boys, pet sounds, early takes of the
Elvis catalogue or any of the countless Beatles boots all done several years
before this. I have a cd of the Beatles recorded on two track cassette in
George Harrison house that sounds superior to these!

Jim...

Don't be silly...

What would he then have to sell to us in 10 years or so when he reaches 65
and needs the pension topped up ??

Why - he will sell us Tubular Bells...the 3 D mix with holographic ding
dongs and a real tin box to keep it in. ( I think he missed a trick there.
The anniversary set should have came in an old tin box) Never mind though,
the new mix is very pleasant if a little "rounded" and safe sounding. I have
yet to try out one of the plectrums. Saving that for my traditional
Christmas strum of "On Horseback"
