One of the musicians coming with us on the upcoming trip wants to go to
the zebra crossing on the cover of Abbey Road. Does anybody know where
on Abbey Road it's located? I checked the map and Abbey Road looks like
a very LONG road.

Thanks,
Carole

Well, it wasn't far from the studio and the studio itself is number 3 Abbey
Road.

APPARENTLY this is NOT the original crossing as APPARENTLY the original
crossing doesn't exist any more , it was moved 20 yards or so down the
road... apparently...

(Dont step on any japanese tourists when taking pics!)

Uh, this is pure HORSE HOCKEY with a touch of racism.

The Abbey Road crossing is very close to the intersection of Abbey Road
and Grove End Road. The nearest tube stop is St. John's Wood, a little
over 1000 feet northeast of the crossing.

Here's a map: http://tinyurl.com/yzfa2us

The couldn't POSSIBLY have moved the crossing, and the minute you see
it, you'll KNOW it's the exact same spot. Perhaps "Covenant" is
confusing Abbey Road with The Cavern Club?

As for the tourists, THOUSANDS of tourists visit the Abbey road crossing
every year from every country in the world, and they ALL take pictures.
No need for Japanese stereotypes here.

Thanks, guys. I wasn't sure how close it was to the studio. I told him
we could photograph him at any zebra crossing as they are all the same
anyway. I'm sure there is always a line of people there waiting to have
a photo taken. But since I'm not paying for this trip, I'll photograph
whatever they want :)

The stereotyping is all in your mind.
It is a fact that Beatles memoribilia is more in demand by the Japanese than
any other country.

Also, check the repeated use of the word *apparently*

And, ermm.. they couldn;t *possibly* have moved it? why is that exactly??

So the end result is that the zebra crossing that is there now, is NOT
the one on the album cover, correct? So I might as well shoot him
walking across a zebra crossing in Liverpool where there is less traffic :)

No. The end result is that "Covenant" is *Apparently* trying to confuse
you. That is THE crosswalk in THE spot in which The beatles were
photographed on 08/08/1969 at 11:35am. It must have been repainted several
times, but that's the spot. When you alk across that street and look
towards the studios, you will see just about the exact same location.
There is no logical place to relocate the crosswalk FROM.

Right. The Conevant guy is talking out of his arse. Everyone can save a
few quid and see it over the internets (the road, not the arse).

A zebra crossing helps to cross a signel road.)

This is true. Even I know that :-))

OK, so now that we've sussed that out, does anyone have any helpful
hints on packing? I know it's going to be chilly and probably gray the
whole time I'm there, although I would fancy a few days of sunshine :)

My new luggage just arrived, so it's time to figure out what's going and
what's not.

"Troll Boy?" You really ARE an asshole, aren't you?
I stated the location of the crossing as nearest the intersection of
Abbey Road and Grove End Road. The studios are at #3 Abbey Road, again
indicating it's near an intersection. The photograph of the Beatles
crossing was taken from a stepladder positioned quite near the traffic
island in THE MIDDLE of Grove End Road. It is, indeed a zebra crossing,
and it is on The Abbey Road portion of that intersection.

Had you not been such a pompous ass, you might have realized that I'm
more than a passing Beatles fan, and have been to that crossing on
several occasions. If I chose to I could easily post a link to a
Flickr.com picture of me STANDING at that locatio, but I'm sure your
twisted little mind would just concoct another eggageration or flat-out
lie to confuse this lady that just wants to bring her friend to a famous
location.

People like you take such immoral pleasure from confusing some poor
tourist while maligning an entire race of people by enforcing an unfair
and impolite sterotype on them. In my mind, people like you can go to
hell.
